Will a black shade make the room darker?
Not underneath it. The inside of the shade is white, so the light bounces off that and comes down soft and even, the same as any other linen shade. What changes is everything above it. A white or beige shade glows all over and throws light back onto the ceiling. Black keeps the light below the fixture instead, so the room feels calmer rather than flooded. If you want a room lit corner to corner, the grey KANTOOR does that better.
What bulbs does it take, and are they included?
Four E26 bulbs, not included, so you can pick your own brightness and colour temperature. Max 15W LED each, and that's the LED rating, not the light output. A 15W LED puts out roughly the same light as a 100W incandescent, so four shades give you the equivalent of about 400W. That's a lot for a bedroom, so most people run them lower or put the fixture on a dimmer. For warm light look for 2700K, or 3000K if you want it crisper for working.
What are the exact dimensions?
20.47 inches (520 mm) across and 6.69 inches (170 mm) deep. It mounts flat with no drop, so 6.69 inches is all it sits below the ceiling.
Will it work on a low ceiling?
Yes, that's what a flush mount is for. It sits flat with no drop at all, so a standard 8-foot ceiling is no problem, and it works in basements, landings and hallways where a pendant would be in the way.
What is the shade made from?
