A double-story issue from Ed Brubaker’s acclaimed run. Uncanny X-Men No.490 (November 2007) features two complete stories set against the shadow of M-Day.
The main story, “The Extremists” Part 4, sends the X-Men deep into the tunnels beneath New York City in pursuit of Masque and a rogue faction of Morlocks. Storm, Warpath, Hepzibah, Nightcrawler and Professor X navigate a dangerous underground world shaped by prophecy, betrayal, and a mysterious book that may hold the key to mutantkind’s future. Written by Ed Brubaker, art by Salvador Larroca, colors by Jason Keith, lettering by VC’s Joe Caramagna.
The backup story, part of the “Endangered Species” arc, follows Beast and Bishop through the ruins of Mutant Town as Hank’s desperate search for a cure to M-Day leads him to a dark moment — and an unexpected spark of hope. Written by Christos Gage, art by Tom Grummett.
