What Is Mugwort?

Originally from Europe, mugwort now grows widely across North America. This perennial is prized for its silvery leaves and aromatic scent, and is commonly found in Quebec meadows among other wild herbs.

How to Use Mugwort

In Japan, mugwort is commonly grown in home gardens as an everyday herb. It's a popular ingredient in mochi rice cakes, adding both flavour and colour.

In cooking, it's mostly used alongside rich, fatty foods. Steep it in broths and slow-cooked dishes. It pairs well with a wide range of flavours, and makes a great spice in a hearty "clean-out-the-fridge" soup.

Caution: Mugwort is traditionally not recommended during pregnancy. Consult a health professional if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
